LG Washer Error Codes

LG Washer Error Codes: find your code, try the safe step, and book if it does not clear.

LG Washer Error Codes explained in plain words: what the display says, the safe thing to try first, and when to book a technician.

These codes come from LG’s US help library page for front-load washers. LG notes the guide covers all models, so details differ for your unit.

Codes vary by model: check your manual or the model label.

Before you try anything: switch the appliance off and unplug it, or turn off its breaker, before you touch a hose, filter or panel. Do not open the control board or electronics, and never bypass a safety switch, lock or thermostat to get past a code.

LG Washer Error Codes: what each one means

OE, E03, E21

  • What the manufacturer says: The washer cannot drain.
  • One safe thing to try: Check for a kinked drain hose. LG also says you can clean the drain pump filter.
  • Book a technician when: the code returns after you have checked the hose and the filter.

IE, E02, E10

  • What the manufacturer says: Water inlet error: the tub does not fill.
  • One safe thing to try: Confirm the supply hose is connected and the faucet is fully open. Unfold any bent hose and clean the water supply filter.
  • Book a technician when: it still will not fill after these checks. LG says the water supply valve may be faulty.

  • One safe thing to try: Redistribute the laundry and remove items that do not belong. LG says to wash blankets on the Duvet cycle and keep the load near two thirds of drum capacity.
  • Book a technician when: the code keeps coming back with small, balanced loads.

dE1, E01

  • What the manufacturer says: The door is not closed properly.
  • One safe thing to try: Open and reclose the door and remove any caught laundry.
  • Book a technician when: LG says service is required if it persists after a reset.

dE2, E30

  • What the manufacturer says: The door is closed but not locked.
  • One safe thing to try: Clear items from the door area and reclose it.
  • Book a technician when: it persists. LG says to request service.

LE

  • What the manufacturer says: The tub fails to spin because of an overload or a foreign object.
  • One safe thing to try: Unplug for 5 minutes and retry. Reduce the load, and check the tub for coins or objects.
  • Book a technician when: it persists. LG says to unplug and contact LG service.

FE, E04, E12

  • What the manufacturer says: Water overfill.
  • One safe thing to try: Unplug the washer for 60 seconds and restart.
  • Book a technician when: it persists. LG says the unit needs inspection or repair.

AE

  • One safe thing to try: Check the inlet hose for loose connections or cuts. Unplug for 60 seconds and restart.

My LG washer shows OE. What does it mean?

LG describes OE as the washer being unable to drain. Check the drain hose for kinks and clean the drain pump filter. If it returns, book a visit.

Is dE the same as a broken door lock?
