Ice Maker Repair: common problems

• No ice: a closed water supply valve, a frozen fill tube, a clogged water filter, a failed inlet valve, or an ice maker module that has stopped cycling.
• Small, hollow or stuck-together cubes: low water flow or a clogged filter.
• Leaks: a cracked fill tube or loose water line.
• Tastes or smells bad: an old filter or stale ice.
• Freezer too warm: the ice maker cannot freeze if the freezer is not cold enough.

Safe things to try first

Check that the water supply valve is open, replace the water filter if it is due (usually about every six months), and make sure the ice bin and arm are in position.
